Winter Wellness

Winter has well and truly hit Wynyard and as a result the school has a lot of sickness with both staff and students. Please make sure your child(ren) are well enough to attend school and please keep them home if they are not. This will hopefully prevent the spread of winter viruses.

Please note the following common conditions and their exclusion durations.

Chicken Pox: Exclude until all blisters have dried – this is usually at least 5 days after the rash first appeared.

Conjunctivitis: Exclude until discharge from eyes has stopped, unless a doctor has diagnosed non infectious conjunctivitis.

Covid-19: Exclude for up to seven days. Earlier return is possible if symptoms have resolved.

Gastrointestinal issues: Exclude until there has not been a loose bowel motion or vomiting for at least 24 hours.

Influenza and influenza like illnesses: Exclude until the person is well.

Hand, foot and mouth: Exclude until all blisters have dried.

Head Lice: Return to school once treated.

School sores: Exclude until appropriate antibiotic treatment has commenced. Sores on exposed skin must be covered with a watertight dressing.

It is great to see so many students in uniform. Jackets and other uniform items are available at the school office between the hours of 8:30am and 3:30pm. A reminder that hoodies are not part of our school uniform.

Road safety reminder

Over the last few weeks students have been crossing the road in front of the school without using the designated School Crossing. This creates hazards for children and vehicles that use the road in front of the school. This area is extremely busy before and after school so please make sure to stay safe and use the marked crossing path.
