Upcoming Mid-Year: ‘Prep to 6 Communicating Learning Progress to Families’ – including Mid-Year Reports & Parent/Carer – Teacher Meetings’
On Friday 20 June, students from 1 to 6 will take home an envelope containing their Mid-Year Report. (NB Preps do not receive a mid-year report).
A Mid-Year Report for students in Grades 1 to 6 shows how your child is achieving in the Australian Curriculum and/or according to priority learning goals as detailed within a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP).
#NB Mid-Year Report variations may also include:
- Some students in Grades 1- 6 may have a compilation of both the Australian Curriculum and/or Personal Learning Plan (PLP)
- Students who have enrolled since the start of Term 2 may have reporting information from their previous teacher/school included in our report format or no formal assessments until the next reporting period. A parent/carer-teacher meeting is strongly encouraged for all newly enrolled students so that informal reporting information can still be shared with families.
A Parent/Carer-Teacher Meeting is also an essential part of how we report and share about each child’s progress…. So, it is now time to book your preferred teacher meeting time… to be held during the two-week period from Monday 23 June until Thursday 3 July!
In the last two weeks of Term 2, we are offering the following days/times for each 15 minute ‘Meeting’ to take place after school:
- Monday (23 June & 30 June), Wednesday (25 June & 2 July) and Friday (27 June) - times between 3:00 and 3:45pm and
- Tuesday (24 June & 1 July) and Thursday (26 June & 3 July) - times between 3:00 and 4:30pm
Please book a meeting time (15min session) either by:
- accessing the Session Keeper link on our Schoolzine eNewsletter App or
- by contacting the School Admin Office (either by phone 6442 3377 or in person) and they will access the link for you
Importantly, your ‘Parent/Carer – Teacher Meeting’ appointment time can either take place:
- at school, ‘face-to-face’ in your child’s classroom
Or
- via a phone conversation (NB: once you have booked your appointment time, please send your child’s teacher/s a Seesaw message confirming this as your preferred option)
Our Admin Office has a record of families who require a duplicate copy of all aspects of reporting (these are posted to the parent). If your circumstances have changed and/or if this is a new request, then please contact our Admin Office 6442 3377 as soon as possible to ensure your details are updated in readiness for our first learning progress and duplicate reports being issued.
Mid-Year: ‘Kinder Communicating Learning Progress to Families’ – including ‘Sharing progress against the Kinder Development Check 1 & Parent/Carer – Teacher Meetings’
Children attending Kindergarten in Tasmanian Government schools, are assessed twice a year using the 21 developmental markers of the Kindergarten Development Check (KDC).
The Check monitors development in the areas of:
- Gross Motor Skills
- Fine Motor Skills
- Personal and Social Development
- Speaking and Listening
- Cognitive Development
The first Kindergarten Development Check has recently been completed for each Kinder child. This will show the markers a child has achieved so far and which ones they are working towards achieving by the end of the school year.
At Mid-Year meetings, Kinder families will receive a copy of their child’s KDC 1 result; as well as have an opportunity to discuss their settling-into Learning and routines at school. Please note that our Kinder teachers are not using the P to 6 online booking system, as they will make contact directly with families to confirm a suitable meeting time.
Meetings will also be held during the last two weeks of school (as for P to 6); however Kinder teachers may be able to accommodate an ‘in the day meeting’ on a Monday. Please feel free to approach your child’s teacher to also book early!
All teachers (Kinder to Grade 6) are really looking forward to meeting and sharing about each child’s progress so far in 2025 … so I would encourage you to book early!
