BULLYING NO WAY Week!
Bullying No Way Week is Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative for schools, taking place from
August 11 to 15, 2025. This national week of action unites government, and independent schools and their communities across the country. Together, we foster practical approaches to prevent bullying in Australian schools.
The 2025 theme, “Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.“, emphasizes the courage it takes to spark change and the collective responsibility to address bullying behaviours within and beyond the school gate.
“It takes courage to spark change.
Bullying is everyone's responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.
Students can be bold, kind and take a stand to support others being bullied. While parents and teachers are there to support children and young people learn how to behave in a positive way.
In our community and in our school, we want a place where everyone can belong, a place that celebrates everyone, and where bullying is never accepted.
This Bullying No Way Week, we're asking students, schools, families and communities to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone, and be proud to take a stand against bullying.”
Classes have taken time to focus on this year’s key theme in their learning programs this week and students are able to participate in a schoolwide ‘design a themed poster competition’. All posters will be displayed in the corridor near the main office.
‘Gr 5 – 6 Safe Buddies’ in our Prep to 2 Playground
This term we have commenced our ‘Safe Buddies’ student play support program during outside recess and lunch times. Students in Grades 5 and 6 have opted to ‘put on an orange fluoro vest’ and take on this extra responsibility and opportunity by:
- Organising and helping to run safe, activities and games and encouraging children to participate in a cooperative way
- Being a positive role model for all members of the school community
- Independently supporting younger children to engage in positive play activities in the Prep to 2 playground area – modelling, ‘be friendly, be safe’
- Supporting a child to go to the duty teachers if they need help or First Aid
- Interacting in a friendly and caring way with all children in Prep, Grade 1 and 2
Being a ‘Safe Buddy’ is another positive opportunity for our upper primary students to lead and contribute towards further building on our inclusive and positive school community!
Book Week – 16 – 23 August… ‘Book an Adventure’
Book Fair - Class visits and Sales information
The School Library will not be open from Monday 18 to Friday 22 August for regular class visits and borrowing…. due to hosting this year’s Book Fair.
Below is the Timetable for classes to visit the Library within the school day to and explore the items available to purchase. These times have been scheduled so that Mrs Crabtree is available to explain the sales/ordering process and to assist younger students with writing their ‘Wish Lists’. Our Grade 6 Library Leaders may also be available to help with younger students too.
Students may bring home their wish lists to share with families after they’ve had their preview visit. It is optional for students to make a purchase and/or they can share their wish list ideas with us to help guide any new additions for the Library. All purchases will contribute to us gaining book credits for the school to add new books to our Library.
All Sales for the Fair will take place on Friday 22 August. Students may visit during the school day to purchase items and parents/carers are welcome to also visit the Library between 8:00 and 9:00 am or from 2:45 to 3:30pm.
Book Week Character Dress-Up Day
On Tuesday 19 August we invite all students and staff to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. We will hold a brief ‘character parade’ in the school Gym commencing at 9am and families are welcome to join us for this special annual event.
Library Leaders - Class Activities
Throughout Book Week our Gr 6 Library Leaders will visit classes and provide special activities centred around both this year’s theme, ‘Book an Adventure’ and the book entries in this year’s 80th Children Book of Council of Australia awards.
Student Council ‘PJ Day’ Fundraiser Results
