A warm welcome to Term 2… and I hope your first month back at school has been a great one and you are managing the temperature changes, and the much chillier morning starts!
Key School Communications
I’m wondering how many have noticed that whilst a little later than usual… this is our first e-Newsletter for Term 2! Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding as staff absences have delayed our first fortnightly edition. However, a huge ‘plus’ is that we are excited to see families embracing new ‘School to Home – Home to School’ communications through using Seesaw.
With our launch of Seesaw, it has also presented us with an opportunity to commence a timely review of the most effective ‘communications’ for all members of our school community. Throughout the remainder of this term, we will be seeking feedback from families to assist us in determining ‘what works best’ for families using our 3 key school communications… SchoolZine App?... Seesaw? and our School Facebook page?
SchoolZine App
Recently, I found out that some families are not accessing the easiest way to connect to SchoolZine (and its many features beyond just a newsletter) as they are still only accessing via the original set-up email link. I would encourage families to update to the SZ App version on their smart device. Using the App version allows for at your ‘fingertips’ quick access tiles to a range of features including:
- Informing of a student absence
- Term Calendar & School Event dates
- Newsletters – latest and archived
- Parent/Carer – Teacher Meeting Appointments
- Access to school documents
Families can download the free SZapp from their phone’s app store and complete the access registration to connect with our school.
Seesaw
The speedy responses from families to connect with their child’s learning and class using our new Seesaw platform has been terrific and I would encourage families not yet connected to contact class teachers for help with this.
As staff build their skills and expertise in using Seesaw, we will continue to post class announcements as well as transition many school announcements from ‘hardcopy notes home’ or newsletter items posted on Seesaw. Later this term we will be sharing our first samples of your child’s learning samples using their student journal in Seesaw. So, if you are not yet connected, then please contact your child’s teacher for help with creating your child’s Seesaw account.
