Student Mural
Earlier this term I spent some time planning with Mrs Alice Wade to develop a welcoming and beautification project for our front of school entrance that involved students from Grades 3 and 4.
Wow, the final result of our project has really surpassed our initial concept planning… due to such creative input and talent from the students involved (some pictured above)!
Our two new entrance Garden Murals are vibrant and welcoming to everyone who comes into our school. More importantly, the students completing this project displayed enthusiasm and took great pride in being able to make their school look great. A huge well done to Mrs Wade and her ‘artistic troop’ for their awesome murals!
We do have future plans to further extend a similar project to other spaces around our school… and essential for us is to have more students being able to actively design, make and contribute to the improvement of their school.
Seesaw Parents getting connected –ready for our Term 2 launch!
Table Cape Primary are ready to commence using Seesaw!
Seesaw gives students and teachers creative tools to capture, reflect and share learning in real-time. It’s easy to use and makes it simple to collect student work and share between ‘class-to-home’ in one place.
Your child’s unique Seesaw Log-in information has been sent home with all Prep to Grade 6 students today. Kinder families will receive their information at the start of Term 2.
Please read and create your account in readiness for our launch in the beginning weeks of Term 2. Please note that teachers are only able to approve Parent 1 and 2 contacts that are on a child’s school contact information.
Early next term, we will share more information and provide an optional support session to help families get started.
ANZAC Day School March Information – Friday 25 April (in week 2 of the school holidays)
Table Cape Primary School will be attending the Wynyard Community ANZAC Service at 11am on Friday April 25 (in the school holiday break).
All students are welcome to join the School’s marching group, scheduled to leave the former RSL at 10:30am, and attend the Service at the Wynyard Cenotaph.
To attend with our School, children must be in full school uniform, be dropped off and collected by an adult who signs them in and provides contact details. Students will be representing their School Community and behaviour expectations will be high.
Students in Kinder to Grade 2 will require an older sibling or adult to walk with and accompany them through the lengthy, formal service (approx. hour from the start of the march to end of the service).
If your child would like to attend, then they are asked to please meet with School Staff in the former RSL car park at 10:15am for sign-in and briefing. NB Only students brought by an adult, who signs in and provides contact details, will be able to join the procession.
Our Student Leaders will participate in the Service and lay a wreath on behalf of our School.
At the completion of the Service, children must be collected by the adult from the Cenotaph. The Service is expected to be finished by 11:30am.
School Association – Parent Member Vacancies
Get involved in your school community...
Our School Association’s next AGM and following General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 13 May, commencing at 7pm in the School’s Staff Room. This week we are advertising 3 Parent Committee membership vacancies (you are eligible to stand for Parent Representative election if you are a parent or legal guardian of a Table Cape Primary School student).
All government schools in Tasmania have a School Association:
• The School Association provides parents, staff, students and other members of the community with a way to be involved in issues important to the school
• School Associations help schools in a number of ways, such as organising fundraising, participating in developing school policy, advising on school management and approving the budget
• When your child starts school, you are automatically a member of the School Association as an observer. School Association committees meet at least four times a year and all parents are welcome to attend.
• Elected Parent Committee members take on this role for a period of three years.
Nomination forms are on our Schoolzine website under forms and documents or are available from the school office, and close at 3.00pm on Friday 2 May.
Each nomination must include a “short statement of introduction” which is on the back of the nomination form.
If an election is needed, voting will be conducted on: Tuesday 6, Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 May.
ANDREA MILLER (Returning Officer)
Finally today,
Wishing all families and staff a very Happy Easter! I'm hoping that the Easter bunny is leaving something special (and sweet) at every house next weekend. Stay safe and well everyone and enjoy the extended break with family and friends! (And…looking forward to seeing smiling faces back at school on Monday 28 April.)
