If you provide unpaid care and emotional support to a family member or friend with disability, mental ill health, chronic or life-limiting condition, alcohol or other drug dependence or who is frail or aged then you may be eligible for FREE support via the Australian Government's Carer Gateway program.

If you care for a family member or friend outside of school, you could be a young carer.
A young carer is someone under the age of 25 who provides unpaid care to another person (usually a family member) with disability, mental ill health, chronic or terminal illness, alcohol or other drug dependence, or who is frail or aged.
Care2Serve, Tasmania's Carer Gateway provider, can help if you are a young carer. Services and support are FREE.
Carer Gateway can help you:
- With information, advice, and recommendations
- With cleaning and meal prep at home
- With a laptop or tablet to help at school
- Access safe and free counselling
- Work one-on-one on your challenges with a coach
- Get time for yourself
- Connect with other young carers
- Attend activities and wellbeing events
- Apply for an annual $3,768 Young Carer Bursary
