Newsletter 27 October 2023
It’s fantastic to see everyone, P to 5/6 students and all Staff, actively joining-in and wearing their ‘Friday PosiSocks’. (Kinder PosiSocks day is Thursdays.)
Today, Prep to 5/6 are officially on Day 6 of the 21 Days of our new PosiSchools program initiative… designed to improve the mental health of children through educating participating students on the power of a positive mindset.
What are the benefits in doing the program? The PosiSchools’ program is designed to provide students with valuable skills to kickstart positive habits for life.
Prep to Yr 6 Program Outline:
Each year level explores a different theme that has been proven to have a positive impact on wellbeing. Short research summaries have been prepared for teachers to provide an overview of the core concepts associated with the topics. Schoolwide we are involved in 15 minute daily morning Posi Sessions focusing on: Years Preps, 1 & 2 – Gratitude and Curiosity; Years 3 & 4 – Connection & Caring and Years 5 &6 Mindset & Mindfulness.
Sessions 1, 2, 6, 11, 16 and 21 involve a video featuring our PosiAmbassadors. Some of the Athlete Mentors include program founder, Trent Cotchin and Ambassadors, Ash Barty, Sam Willoughby and Need Brockmann. The remainder of the sessions revolve around key games, activities, and the creation of students’ mementos.
Throughout the program, each student will also create a memento of their activities. This will serve as a tangible reminder of the concepts learnt.
During out PosiSchools program (from Friday 20 October to Tuesday 21 November), students and staff are encouraged to wear their PosiSocks to school each Friday and on the last Tuesday 21 November.
We are winning the morning by kickstarting each day with evidence-informed wellbeing practices… aiming to develop positive habits of wellbeing for life! So please, follow along with your child’s class’s journey on ClassDojo and by having a daily chat about each day’s focus message.
Hot off the press….excitedly, we are currently negotiating to actually have Trent Cotchin visit with us at school… in mid-Nov – more details to come!
Table Cape’s Got Talent (TCGT) – Update re changes to previously advertised ‘Semi and Grand Final’ Dates
Due to staffing absences this week, we postponed our in-school Semi Final event.
As previously advertised, this is only for our students from Grades 3 to 6 and staff to attend.
There is no invitation for outside audience participation at the Semis; as we have given a commitment to student entrants, that as they grow their courage to step up and perform, the audience will not be open to families to attend.
Teachers will record and post Semi Final Acts directly to a child’s ClassDojo account for families to still be able to view and enjoy.
As always, families are invited to attend our first Term 4 Whole School Sharing Assembly on Wed 8 November and also…. directly following this (after a short 5 min intermission) we will hold our Grand Final for TCGT. Please stay on and join us for this special talent event!
Celebrating World Teacher’s Day
This year, Friday 27 November is when we celebrate World Teachers’ Day in Australia. Every day, Tasmanian teachers are making a difference educating and inspiring young people across our state.
World Teachers’ Day is a day for all members of our School Community to celebrate and be proud of our teachers. It is an opportunity to acknowledge our teachers and say thanks for the significant contributions they make in our classrooms and communities.
‘Australians are increasingly appreciating the crucial role of quality teaching and school leadership in equipping students with the skills, confidence and a desire to succeed in a fast-changing world.’
While the greatest reward for teachers is seeing the growth in their students that learning brings, community recognition is also important for the advancement and renewal of the profession. World teacher’s day is an opportune time to pay tribute to Australia’s wonderful teachers.
All of our TCPS staff demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the wellbeing, learning and development of all students. Please join me in celebrating our/their special professional day by sharing a positive comment to your child/ren’s teacher/s about the terrific job they are doing every day!
