What a busy week we are in! Book Week is very exciting for students and staff alike. Chantelle Thomas and Wendy Crabtree have done an amazing job setting up the library for this event. Dress-Up Day is Wednesday 25. Thanks to parents and carers who have taken the time to organise costumes, your efforts are appreciated. The Student Library Leaders have been busy organising activities for the following week, featuring the short-listed books. COVID Lock-Down:
Over the last few weeks teachers have been preparing for what we are hoping to avoid, a COVID Lock-Down. Should the need for a Lock-Down arise, all students will be provided with a resource pack to commence ‘learning from home’. Teachers will use Dojo as the platform to deliver lessons and activities during this time. These activities will be based around the current learning plans for each class. Teachers will work together to monitor and give feedback on student achievements. Ideally this plan will not need executing however if it does - we are ready.
Science Week Activities:
UTAS Science Fair: Over the month of August, some students in Grade 5 and 6 have been preparing investigations for the UTAS Science Fair. They will present their findings on Thursday 26 August at Marist Regional College. We wish them all the best.
Young Tassie Scientists: On Tuesday August 24, 3 young scientists visited the Grade 3 and 4 classes to talk about, and give insight to, the work that they do. Their fields of study included; Antarctica Scientist, Volcanologist, Ecologist and Zoologist.
Highlights:
Highlights this week have included the number of students who have made the ‘Darwin’ team in hockey, football, netball and soccer for the NWPSSA ‘Darwin vs Devon’ Sports Carnival; and the amazing new display of student work in the library.
Here they are with their winning art, at the exhibition at the Burnie campus of the University of Tasmania. Esther in 2nd place, Nita in 3rd place and Campbell was the runner-up
